Hand sanitizer – check. Revised travel policies – check. Work-from-home plan – check.

You’ve got the basics down. Now it’s time to make a strategic business plan for the next few months and beyond – when the current situation is in our rearview mirror.

In this webinar, leading analysts from across Everest Group’s practices will discuss ways you can minimize impact to business operations in the short- and mid-term, and how you can position yourself to uncover potential opportunities in the future. Join to gain a 360-degree view of the business implications and learn specific actions and frameworks you can deploy this quarter, next quarter, and the quarter beyond.

Special guest Peter Nag, Merck’s Global Head of BPO, Shared Services & Transformation, will share his perspective on the situation, including what’s topping his must-do list, his view of service provider response, how his team has responded, and his thoughts on the impacts over the next few quarters.

If you’re an executive in a business that provides or uses IT, business process, or engineering services, you will gain valuable insights from our expert analysis, including answers to questions such as:

  • How do you assess immediate impact on supply base?
  • How can you find the cost savings you’re being asked for?
  • How do you reorganize resources and processes to maintain delivery in the mid-term, and how do you build in contracting flexibility/agility to address unexpected capacity variations?
  • Given the current and expected economic impact, do you renegotiate pricing … and how?

Who should attend and why?
This session will help leaders across organizations evaluate impact and uncover opportunities:

  • Heads of procurement and sourcing, category managers
  • Heads of global in-house centers, shared services centers
  • C-suite leaders from service provider organizations and buying organizations

Responsible Event Cancellation

To all our BPESA members and GBS / ICT stakeholders

The GBS / ICT roadshow scheduled for next week has been cancelled. Following consultation with some of our partners, Board and EXCO, and with due consideration to other risk mitigation plans and advisories regarding the COVID-19 virus , the consensus view is that this is the right thing to do for the Sector.

The GBS Sector is a mainstay player in the services sector of our economy. The risk of disruption to this sector from within SA or external to SA must be mitigated at all costs. We are currently taking guidance from Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and the Department of Health as to how best to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus and to contain it where it breaks out. Critically, our lines of communication with business and government forums (the dti, PPGI, BUSA) are open as approaches and plans are being reviewed and refined on an almost real-time basis. In parallel to this, BPESA is formulating its own risk mitigation approach which will be shared with you for input during the coming week.

For now, its incumbent on all of us to take our duty of care to staff and stakeholders extremely seriously and to proactively plan with our partners to mitigate the risks of any catastrophic impact on our member’s businesses and employees.  While we are currently in an early stage and low risk level this can be expected to change over the coming weeks / months and we need to be prepared.

We should, however, also be viewing this very serious situation as an opportunity for South Africa to capitalise on the global perception that we offer a safer location for businesses that are currently being disrupted elsewhere or are highly likely to be disrupted; not responding in panic but being aligned in our national response. Member companies are already receiving enquires about rapid transfer of work to South Africa, and opportunity that we should do our best to capitalise on.

Traci Freeman, our partners and our team will be rescheduling the GBS / ICT roadshow sessions and converting the format from face to face to a virtual webinar session. The plan is to hold these during the week of the 23rd to 27th March.  Please look out for the communication for these session and register asap.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused to you and thank you for your understanding and support!

Global services saw dramatic shifts in 2019 across multiple areas, including: a notable rise in the share of business process outsourcing deals vs. IT outsourcing transactions; an increase in the number of short-term contracts; an increase in Global In-house Centers / Global Business Services setups by small enterprises; and, growth in center setup activity in onshore geographies.

But what do these shifts mean for 2020? And for your organization?
This webinar, which will provide a preview of our upcoming Market Vista™ Annual Report 2020, will present these changes and others – within the context of what lies ahead for global services.

We’ll share likely trends for 2020 and the keys to success in the context of rising uncertainty. You’ll want to join to understand the imperatives your organization must consider.

Our experts will address the following:

  • What were the key developments in IT and BPS in 2019?
  • What were the trends in digital adoption?
  • How has the nature of deals changed?
  • Where are new centers popping up?
  • What trends are likely to amplify in 2020?
