Insurance Services Investor Engagement
on the 8th October 2019
to be held at South Africa House in London
On Tuesday the 8th October from 08h00 to 13h30 a delegation of South African companies and UK based Insurance firms, led by the South African Department of Trade and Industry and BPESA (the industry association for Global Business Services) will be in London to host a facilitated workshop for interested parties in the UK insurance sector.
South Africa has been known as a financial services destination having attracted large banks and insurers such as Barclays, First National Bank, BNP Paribas, JP Morgan, Citibank, Mercantile Bank, Outsurance, Momentum, Old Mutual, Sanlam, Santam, Hollard, Auto and General to name a few.
The high availability of quality talent (including CAs, CFAs and actuaries) has been the key driver of success, and global banks and insurers are leveraging South Africa for delivery of complex work in the fields of asset management, life insurance, short term insurance, and fund accounting processes to the United Kingdom, Australia and now, the United States.
Voice processes in the insurance space, such as claims processing, commission handling, policy administration, etc. are delivered to a great extent from here due to the core strengths of customer empathy and good English language skills.
With much in common between South Africa and the UK, a long standing cultural connection, great quality skills and a really attractive cost proposition, South Africa offers UK based Insurers and BPOs the opportunity to drastically reduce costs without any disruption to the quality of service delivered to their clients or internal customers.
The workshop will focus on short term insurance services. The session will be a facilitated and interactive session using case studies and group discussion to identify the challenges experienced by insurers in the UK and to present various opportunities that South Africa could offer in addressing these challenges.
